Fashion and Fleuressence

Every September, the David Jones store on Elizabeth Street puts on an incredible flower show to commemorate the change in seasons and kick off the first day of spring.  (Yes, I’m still getting used to spring starting in September instead of March).  The ground floor transforms into a magical sort of wonderland where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city streets and take in the luscious aromas of fresh flowers.

The floral installations in the store window displays are just as fabulous, causing both commuters and bus drivers to slow their pace as they pass by.  I was on my way to a life drawing class when I decided to stop and smell the roses, and I’m so glad I did!  If you live in or around Sydney, think about dropping by DJ’s on Elizabeth Street to see this year’s show Fleuressence because it’s definitely worth a peek.

Here’s some photos I took to give you an idea of just how cool it is.  Fashion and fresh flowers: what a glorious combination!
