Songs Every Australian Knows

Here’s a list of some random songs I’m pretty sure every Australian knows.

And when I say “every Australian,” I mean every Aussie born and raised in this country. Yes, including my American-Hip-Hop-culture-loving Aussie hubby (I think he even knows these songs word for word).

(in no particular order)

  1. “The Horses” by Daryl Braithwaite
  2. “Working Class Man” by Jimmy Barnes
  3. “Beds Are Burning” by Midnight Oil
  4. “Waltzing Matilda” by Slim Dusty
  5. “Throw Your Arms Around Me” by Hunters & Collectors
  6. “Never Tear Us Apart” by INXS
  7. “Little Darling” by Jimmy Barnes
  8. “You’re the Voice” by John Farnham
  9. “Cry In Shame” by Johnny Diesel & the Injectors
  10. “Dumb Things” by Paul Kelly
  11. “Tip of My Tongue” by Diesel
  12. “Chains” by Tina Arena
  13. “Khe Sanh” by Cold Chisel
  14. “G’day G’day” by Slim Dusty
  15. “I Like Aeroplane Jelly” from the Aeroplane Jelly commercial
  16. “Simply the Best” by Tina Turner for an Australian Rugby League commercial
  17. “Down Under” by Men At Work
  18. “I Still Call Australia Home”
  19. And last but not least, any song by AC/DC

Are you an Aussie?
What do you think of this list? Am I missing any other iconic songs? I’d love to hear your feedback!
